A regal vintage bishop ring built around a large round cut amethyst weighing approx. 8 carats. The stone displays a deep, violet hue, and expertly cut facets that flicker and dance endlessly in the light.
Amethyst is the birthstone of February and is considered a stone of protection, clarity and tranquillity. Its deep violet colouring has been highly esteemed throughout history, adorning regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels.
The stone is held in a crimped, collet mount, ringed with a rope edge and joins a fabulous open-work gallery and shoulders depicting large gold leaves and berries.
It’s a magnificent statement piece with exquisite workmanship and London hallmarks within the band, dating to 1970.
We recommend you insure for £2,000. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
